Why should your family consider attending St. Christopher's School? St. Chris seeks to prepare an intelligent and diverse group of boys for college and for life in the 21st century. A rigorous academic program, small classes, dedicated teachers, excellent programs in athletics and the arts, and a commitment to leadership and personal responsibility are hallmarks of a St. Christopher’s education. It’s a commitment that lasts a lifetime. St. Christopher’s enrolls approximately 955 boys in JK-12 from all over the Richmond metropolitan region. Lower School (JK-5) has 428 boys, Middle School (6-8) has 218, and Upper School (9-12) enrolls 309. The average class size is 16 students. The education you child recieves at st. Christopher's is second to none! One of the motos of St. Christopher's is "bringing out the best in every boy" and the school definitely follows through with this idea.
St. Chris offers excellent academic facilities. A $3.5 million Lower School addition and a $4 million science center for grades 6-12 were recently added to St. Christopher's. Students study and learn in historic buildings with the latest technology available. These renovations and others brings the school into the 21st century. In addition to our campus-wide network, there is Internet access in each classroom and at least one computer lab in each division. Each division also has the benefit of a computerized library with a staff librarian suited to the boys in that division. We also co-op with Saint Catherine's, an all girls school located near St. Christopher's, at the Upper School level. The academic program at St. Christopher's is rigorous, prestigious, and influential in the development of all of our students.
St. Chris has state of the art athletic facilities. The athletic facilities at St. Chris are second to none. No public high school can compete with the space and multitude of sports and wellness equipment. Our state of the art weight room facilities feature equipment and training that most colleges do not have access to! The indoor field house includes two gymnasiums, spacious locker rooms, an indoor track, and incredible athletic training facilities. The wrestling gym fits two full mats with bleacher space; a modern wrestling room complete with padded walls adds a third mat for practice sessions. No school in Virginia can compete with the magnitude of our wrestling facilities!
St. Chris has a long and unique history. Started in 1911 as the Chamberlayne School (named after the first Headmaster Dr. Churchill Gibson Chamberlayne), the school has enjoyed continual growth since. In 1920 the school received its current name after a system of schools was established by the Epispocal Church. The spirit and moto of the school has remained the same since 1911: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Our current Headmaster, Charlie Stillwell, has been at St. Christopher's since 1998. St. Christopher's School strives to strike a balance between academics, athletics, and spirituality. It is the goal of the school for students to take their religion seriously. Students attend chapel and are encouraged to deepen their spiritual and religious beliefs.

Our coaches work with a "hands on" approach to wrestling.
